2026 SWE Internship Experience at Bolt

Last week I finished my SWE internship at Bolt.

I’ve got to say, it will certainly be one of the most defining experiences in my career.

The level of ownership and growth opportunities you’re given is out of this world. By week two, I was already changing a fundamental process in how driver documents are handled.

For my main project, I worked on unifying and improving the usability of internal tools used by over 500 employees. A big part of the project happened outside of writing code: talking directly with compliance stakeholders, understanding how different teams actually used the tools, gathering feedback, and using that to scope and iterate on the solution.

The end result improved workflows around a business-critical page handling over 250k requests a day, while helping us get closer to the truth of how these processes actually work and where they could be improved or cut down on.

A huge thank you to my mentor Tanel Salu for guidance and freedom to take ownership. I’m also incredibly grateful to my fantastic colleagues, who treated me as a real colleague from day one. And to all the other amazing interns I got to share the experience with.

Unfortunate that the internship went by so quickly, definitely wanted to stay longer. Hopefully, it won’t be long until our paths cross again.
